The Importance of Entering Accurate Weight and Size for Each Package
Carriers charge for the carriage of packages based upon their weight and
size as measured by their own equipment. The amount quoted by Courierpoint.com is
based on the weight and size you entered when booking your shipment.
Consequences of Incorrect Weight or Size being Entered
Should the weight or size measured by the carrier be higher than that stated
when the shipment was booked additional carriage and an administration charge of
£5.00 may be charged to your card. Be aware that additional charges may not be proportional
and that excess weight or size may necessitate the package having to use an alternative,
more expensive, service than you selected.
How Packages are Measured
Carriers use highly sophisticated machines to measure the weight and size
of each package. These machines are regularly tested by independent authorities
to ensure they are accurate. Additional charges for extra weight or size can only
be challenged with clear and unambiguous evidence.
Making an Appeal against Additional Charges
If you choose to dispute any additional charges resulting from the carrier
assessed weights or sizes being different to those you entered, we require clear
and unambiguous supporting evidence before an appeal can be considered.
This should be either a video or pictures that show:-
- Each package with its label on - clear enough for the label to be read
- Each package on weighing scales - clear enough for the weight to be read
- Each package being measured - clear enough to see the size for all three dimensions
