Toys

As the sender, you are responsible for making sure that anything you ship gets to its destination in one piece. That’s why you should take extra care when shipping toys around Christmas – not only does a happy customer hang in the balance, but a child’s happiness and the success of Christmas does too. So, it is important to make sure that you pack toys safely the first time round.

Here at Courierpoint, we’ve put together a handy guide on how to wrap toys for delivery to make sure that your toys reach their new owners in one piece. Take a look below.

Note: it is important to make sure that you are using new, high quality packing materials when packing your toys.

The Box

The box is one of the most important elements of shipping, as it protects your items from pressure and damage. For instance, if you want the item to turn up at its destination intact, then you should always opt for a box over a padded envelope, unless your item is relatively flat.

A thick or double walled box will provide a little bit more protection, as will placing a smaller box inside a larger one.

Fill the Voids

To make sure that your toys don’t get damaged, you’ll need to prevent them from moving around in the box. To do this you will have to fill any voids in the box around the toys. There are a number of materials that you might use to fill the voids, including shredded paper, tissue paper and polystyrene peanuts. Shake the box slightly, and if the toys still move, be sure to add more void-filling material until they don’t.

Boxed Toys

Make sure that you bubble wrap boxed toys. While the toy inside the box is unlikely to get bashed, the box itself might, and will therefore not look as good as it could.

Centre the box on the bubble wrap, wrap it round and tape it. Fold the ends in, making triangles and tape both ends.

Depending on how much protection you want to give your toys, you can place it in a box that is larger than your toys, and fill in the voids with filler such as peanuts or newspaper.

Books

You have two options when it comes to shipping books. You can either send it in a mailer or a box. If you choose to send it in a bubble mailer, you should use cardboard to protect the book. Cut two pieces of cardboard at least an inch bigger than the book all the way around. This way, if the package was dropped, then the cardboard would take the damage. Wrap the book in tissue paper or bubble wrap and place between the two pieces of cardboard, and tape to secure. Place the book in the mailer and seal with packing tape.

If you choose to ship your books in a box, then you should still sandwich the book between two pieces of cardboard for the best protection. Once in the box, use void fillers to pack out the box and prevent the books from moving around too much.

Once packed correctly, it’s imperative to get your goods out on time so your customers are happy. Get in contact with us today to find out how we can make sure that your books and toys arrive on time.
